President’s Message by Jon Becker
Fellow Mini owners. It seems like 2025 is going by at an unbelievable pace. It’s almost the end of June. We have been blessed with great Mini weather so far this year. Only a few days above 80 degrees and good weather to go on a drive. A number of club events are chronicled elsewhere in this edition of our newsletter.
As some of you know I have been a long time Mini owner and racer.  In addition I ran a Mini specialty shop for over 45 years.  I stopped working on other folks’ Minis several years ago and now I am concentrating on finding a home for a 50 year collection of Mini bits and cars.  To that end I was at the recent Dixon car show and swap meet in May.  Also trying to keep six running minis operational is a job in itself.  If you find yourself in need of a difficult to find part do not hesitate to call me.  I have found obscure bits for a lot of folks over the last few years.  I seem to still find boxes of stuff I long ago forgot I possessed. Jim Predmore has suggested I have a club gathering at my shop as a sort of a club garage sale.  The idea is intriguing. Maybe I can plan something for later this year. Enough about me. Our next big club event is Mini Meet West in Welches, Oregon the second week of July.  Welches is located near the base of Mount Hood.  It is a beautiful area, and I am sure the Oregon Mini Society will do a great job with the event.  If you have never had the opportunity to attend one of these meets you have missed something special.  I personally have been attending them since 1973.  The part I enjoy the most is reconnecting with people I have known through the years.  The shared love of the cars and the great discussions are the soul of the event.  As a Mini owner you owe it to yourself to plan to attend one of these events in the future.  Over the last years I have chosen to tow a Mini to the events.  However, since Dorothy doesn’t want to attend this year I am going to be driving the Morris Traveller to the event.  Our fearless trek planner, Pat Kaye, has planned a route that is perfectly suited to Minis.  I am not sure how many of us will be going with the caravan but probably close to ten cars, maybe more.  We will travel about six to seven hours of driving each day with hotel stays each evening. I am excited about the adventure and the comradery.  That’s about all for this time.  I am going for a short test drive in the wife’s Mini and see if I can find the slow coolant leak that has developed.  Get out and drive those Minis.  Happy Mini’ing!
